News-1: Bajaj Allianz launched Global Health Care plan

  • Bajaj Allianz General Insurance announced the launch of a new health insurance product ‘Global Health Care’.
  • A comprehensive health indemnity insurance product that provides cover to a policyholder for planned as well as an emergency treatment both in India and abroad.
  • Global Health Care offers one of the widest sum insured in the Indian market, starting from ₹37, 50,000 to ₹3, 75, 00,000.
  • The product is available with two plans – ‘Imperial Plan’ and ‘Imperial Plus Plan’ which offer both international and domestic Covers.
  • The entry age for adults is from 18 to 65 years and for dependent children is from 3 months to 30 years with a lifetime renewal option.

News-2: Iran applied to join BRICS group of emerging countries

  • Iran has submitted an application to become a member of the BRICS.
  • Iran, which holds the world’s second-largest gas reserves, wants to join the BRICS group of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
  • Argentina’s President Alberto Fernandez, currently in Europe, has in recent days reiterated his desire for Argentina to join BRICS.

News-3: Justice Ujjal Bhuyan takes oath as HC Chief Justice of Telangana

  • Justice Ujjal Bhuyan was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.
  • Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office to Justice Bhuyan.
  • Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also attended the swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.

News-4: Airtel Payments Bank partnered with Axis Bank to digitize cash collection

  • Airtel Payments Bank has partnered with Axis Bank, India’s third largest
    private sector bank, to digitize the cash collection system in Tier III cities
    and semi-urban regions.
  • Airtel Payments Bank will leverage the extensive reach of its digital-led
    neighborhood banking model to support Axis Bank with the digitization of
    last-mile cash collections and it would also speed up the payment cycle.

News-5: SEBI imposed Rs. 7 crore penalty on NSE

  • Markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has imposed a penalty of Rs 7 crore on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Rs 5 crore on former MD & CEO Chitra Ramkrishna in the ‘dark fibre’ case.
  • In this case, a total of 18 entities received penalties.
  • The case relates to the alleged differential access given to certain broking firms in the form of ‘dark fibre’ at NSE, to connect across the colocation facilities before other members.

News-6: Nitin Gadkari presented National Highway excellent Award 2021

  • Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla along with Minister for Road Transport and
    Highways Nitin Gadkari gave away National Highways Excellence Awards 2021.
  • Awards were given to the stakeholders and companies engaged in the highway construction and maintenance of road assets in New Delhi.
  • Excellence Awards were constituted in 2018 & awards were given away in 9 categories including Excellence in Project Management, Excellence in Highway Safety, Excellence in Toll Management, Excellence in Operation and Maintenance, Innovation, Green Highways, Outstanding Work in Challenging Condition, Bridge Construction and Tunnel Construction.

News-7: Indian Coast Guard launched centralised pay system called PADMA

  • A centralised pay system called PADMA (Pay Roll Automation for Disbursement of Monthly Allowances) for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has been launched by Controller General of Defence Accounts Rajnish Kumar.
  • PADMA is an automated platform leveraging latest technology which will provide seamless and timely disbursal of pay and allowances to around 15,000 ICG personnel.
  • PADMA has been developed under the aegis of Defence Accounts Department and will be operated by Pay Accounts Office of the ICG in Noida.
  • The launch marked the beginning of the Centralized Pay System (CPS), the foundation of which is being laid down by the Defence Accounts Department Headquarters to provide one-stop pay accounting solutions for all organizations under the Ministry.

News-8: Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from the International Cricket

  • Eoin Morgan confirmed his retirement from international cricket and stepped down as England’s white-ball captain after more than seven years.
  • Morgan initially started out as an Ireland player, making his debut in August 2006 in a match against Scotland. He was run out on 99 in the game and declared Player of the Match.
  • Morgan then made his debut for England in an ODI against the West Indies in May 2009. He played his entire T20I and his brief Test career for England.
  • Morgan was also part of England teams that won their first title in 2010 at
    the World Twenty20 and captained the team to the final in 2016.

  • NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog’s report titled ‘India’s Booming Gig and Platform Economy- Perspectives and Recommendations on the Future of Work’ was launched by its Vice Chairman Suman Bery, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Amitabh Kant and Special Secretary Dr. K Rajeswara Rao.
  • It is a first-of-its-kind study that presents comprehensive perspectives and recommendations on the Indian gig–platform economy.

News-13: MoE releases Report on PGI for Districts for 2018-19 and 2019-20; also Release PGI 2019-20 for States/UTs

  • Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L), Ministry of Education released the ‘Performance Grading Index for Districts of India (PGI-D) Combined Report For 2018-19 & 2019-20’ which assessed the performance of school education system at the District level.
  • The PGI-D report Graded 725 districts in 2018-19 and 733 districts in 2019-20 across the States / UTs (Union Territories).
  • Rajasthan’s Sikar (488 out of 1000 points) district is the highest performing district for 2019-20 in school education, followed by its Jhunjhunu (486), and Jaipur (482).
  • All these have attained the grade of ‘Utkarsh’ category (scoring 81-90% on a scale of 100).
  • Rajasthan also topped the second grade ‘Ati-uttam’ having 24 of its districts in this category, for 2019-20.
  • The PGI-D 2020-21 is presently under compilation.

News-14: IN-SPACe Authorises India’s First Set of Space Start-Ups to Launch Payloads

  • The Indian Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) headquartered at Ahmedabad in Gujarat, has authorised two Indian private firms, Dhruva Space Private Limited in Hyderabad (Telangana) and Digantara Research and Technologies Private Limited in Bengaluru
    (Karnataka), to launch their payloads into space.
  • They are the first set of space start-ups to receive the authorization, signalling the commencement of private space sector launches in India.
  • The payloads would be launched by the PSLV Orbital Experimental Module (POEM) of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C53 (PSLV-C53) on June 30, 2022.

News-15: Protean & PayNearby partners to offer Paperless PAN-related services

  • Protean eGov Technologies Limited(Protean), formerly NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd, has announced a strategic partnership with PayNearby(Nearby Technologies Private Limited) to offer Permanent Account Number (PAN) related services through Aadhaar and biometric or SMS-based One Time Password(OTP) authentication for their customer.
  • This partnership aims to improve service delivery for the citizens as they enter the formal financial sector.
  • This partnership will make the entire process seamless and accessible across more than 17600 PIN codes in India through PayNearby’s DaaS (Distribution as a Service) network of 50+ lakh microentrepreneurs.

News-16: CEA: India would become USD 5 trillion economy by 2026-27 & USD 10 trillion by 2033-34

  • Addressing an event organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) India, Dr V. Anantha Nageswaran, Chief Economic Adviser(CEA) of India, stated that India would become a USD 5 trillion economy by 2026-27 and a USD 10 trillion economy by 2033-2034.
  • At present India is a USD 3.3 trillion economy, assuming a 10% nominal GDP growth in dollar terms will get USD 10 trillion by 2023-34 and another doubling with the same rate.
  • India’s economy grew 8.7% in the fiscal year 2021-22 against a 6.6% contraction in the previous year.
  • In 2019, Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India envisioned making India a USD 5 trillion economy and global powerhouse by 2024-2025.

News-17: Bengaluru’s ADTL Delivers Gaganyaan Crew Module Fairing to ISRO

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO), Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) has received the crew module fairing (CMF), a critical structure that will protect the Gaganyaan module carrying the astronauts during launch, from a Alpha Design Technology Limited’s (ADTL), Bengaluru, Karnataka.
  • The CMF is a structure that protects the crew module of Gaganyaan against the impact of dynamic pressure and aerodynamic heating during launch through an atmosphere.

News-18: Hockey: India Men’s Team & Uruguay Women’s Team won Inaugural Hero FIH Hockey5s Lausanne 2022

  • Indian Men’s Hockey Team won the Inaugural men’s Champion of Hero FIH Hockey5s Lausanne 2022 defeating Poland in the finals.
  • Uruguay women’s Hockey Team defeated the Switzerland team and became the inaugural women’s champion.
  • Hero FIH Hockey5s Lausanne 2022, the 1st ever official senior World Hockey5s competition orgnised by Fédération Internationale de Hockey FIH – International Hockey Federation).

News-19: Karnataka Launches ‘Kashi Yatra’ Scheme for Pilgrims

  • Karnataka government launched ‘Kashi Yatra’ with a project outlay of Rs. 7 crore.
  • The project provides Rs 5,000 cash assistance to each of the 30,000 pilgrims, who are willing to take up a pilgrimage to Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (UP).
  • The pilgrims who are willing to take up the government sponsored ‘Kashi Yatra’ benefit can avail only once in their lifetime.
  • According to Shashikala Jolle, Minister for Religious Endowment, Hajj and Wakf, the fund was sanctioned for the scheme under the accounts head of ‘Assistance to Manasa Sarovara Pilgrims’.

News-20: BSE Partners with MACCIA to Create Awareness on SME Listing

  • BSE Limited also called Bombay Stock Exchange, a leading stock exchange collaborated with the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MACCIA) to promote and create awareness in Maharashtra on the benefits of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) listing.
  • BSE will provide technical and manpower support to SME enterprises that are registered with MACCIA to get listed on the BSE SME platform.
  • The BSE SME will provide training and capacity-building programmes to MACCIA officials, with a nodal person to be appointed as a single point contact in Maharashtra.
  • This helps in providing an end-to-end solution for registering or listing on BSE SME platform.

News-21: Assam Cabinet Approves JV with Railway Ministry to Boost Connectivity

  • The cabinet of the Assam, chaired by Chief Minister(CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma, has approved the formation of a Joint Venture(JV), Assam Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (ARIDCL) between the Assam government and the railway ministry to increase the railway connectivity in Assam.
  • In ARIDCL, the Assam government will host 51% share and the Railway Ministry will hold the emaining 49%.
  • The ARIDCL will ensure the speedy implementation of the ongoing projects and work out ossible financing avenues.

News-22: Artificial Intelligence will add USD 500 billion to India’s GDP by 2025: NASSCOM Report

  • The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and data utilization strategies can add USD 500 billion to India’s GDP by 2025, according to a report by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM).
  • The AI adoption in 4 key sectors, BFSI, consumer packaged goods (CPG) and retail, healthcare, and industrials/automotive, can contribute 60% of the total $ 500 billion opportunity.
  • The current rate of AI investments in India is growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30.8% and poised to reach USD 881 million by 2023, it will still represent just 2.5% of the total global AI investments of USD 340 billion.
  • For India to achieve its $1 trillion GDP goal by FY 2026-2027, it needs to have a strong correlation to the maturity of AI adoption.
  • India currently is the second largest global hub in training and hiring AI talent.

News-23: G7 leaders launched USD 600 billion infrastructure plan for developing countries

  • Group of Seven leaders pledged to raise USD 600 billion in private and public funds over five years to finance needed infrastructure in developing countries and counter China’s lder, multi trillion-dollar Belt and Road project.
  • This will boost help to give a boost to the economics of countries.
  • Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) began three days of talks in Germany’s Bavarian Alps.

News-24: Mufin Finance received Prepaid Payment instrument license from RBI

  • Mufin Finance, one of the leading NBFCs, has received in-principal RBI approval for issuance of semi-closed prepaid payment instruments.
  • The PPI license ill allows digital banks, fintech firms and large consumer facing applications to roll out features such as digital payment solutions for lending.
  • Mufin Finance is the 4th NBFC to receive such a licence from the RBI, after leading brands such as Bajaj Finserve, Manapurram and Paul Merchants.

News-25: Punjab Budget 2022: Punjab FM presents Rs 1,55,859.78-crore budget; AAP govt’s first budget

  • Punjab Finance Minister (FM) Harpal Singh Cheema presented Rs. 1,55,859.78-crore budget in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, a growth of 14.2% from the previous fiscal.
  • This is the first budget of the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) government led by the Chief Minister(CM) Bhagwant Mann.
